Nelson & Co.), Des Moines, Iowa (1978 to present)   Founder and principal, mergers & acquisitions intermediary and consulting firm which specializes in initiating and facilitating transactions involving ownership interests in middle market companies.  Related services include valuation of private equity holdings and capital development.  Clients are generally manufacturers, distributors or service concerns.  Transactions include recapitalizations and outright sales.  

Taylor, Nelson & Co., Des Moines, Iowa (interim 1983 - 1992)   Co-founder and Principal, financial consulting firm offering corporate financial consulting services similar to those of Nelson Equity Development, LC. 

Iowa Paint Manufacturing Co., Des Moines, Iowa (1973-78)   Chief Financial Officer, integrated regional manufacturer and distributor of paint and allied products.  Provided urgently needed technical expertise and personal leadership to establish and modernize management controls for this long-established company which had been buffeted by management change, unprecedented competitive developments in its consolidating industry and the energy price inflation of the early 1970's.  Involved in all aspects of general and financial management, with particular responsibilities for financial controls, development of management information systems and a corporate acquisition program.  

Mid-America Foods, Inc., Humboldt, Iowa (1968-73)   Chief Financial Officer in four-person management team which established new company.  Raised over $5 million in debt and equity to establish what became the world's largest fully-integrated single-site egg production and processing complex which was a highly profitable concern at the end of this time.  

Irving Trust Company, New York, NY (1964-66)   Credit Analyst and loan officer trainee.  


Harvard Graduate School of Business Administration (1966-68)   Master of Business Administration degree, 1968.  Qualified for concentration in general management and marketing.  Top one-third of class.  

New York University Graduate School of Business Administration (1964-66).   Part-time student of management while also working full-time at Irving Trust Company.  Completed about one-half of the course work required for an MBA with a concentration in finance.  

Harvard College (1960-64)   Bachelor of Arts degree, 1964.  Liberal Arts course of study with concentration in English.  Extra-curricular activities included music, theater, athletics, publishing and part-time work.
